How?

Methods to learn Perl:

  • Some people learn best by reading books, on their own.
  • Many other people prefer websites and other online sources.
  • Some people start with scripts (small and large pieces of code) and learn by trial and error, using the error messages of the debugger and the offline documentation, included with Perl, and the online documentation (perldoc.perl.org) and freely available modules (CPAN).
  • Many people learn from and teach to user communities, not only available through websites and usenet groups, but also In Real Life meetings. There's almost always at least one fellow Perl programmer patient enough to help, answer questions, talk about tricks and strategies.
  • Last but not least the courses, conferences, seminars and other meetings where people learn and teach Perl.
